27 www.sandridge-pc.gov.uk WINTER 2023 D uring November 2023, the work on the repair and refurbishing of the Grade II listed lychgate was carried out. The project was able to commence due to grants being given by: The War Memorials Trust (£5,450), Sandridge Parish Council (£5,000) and from Annie Brewster’s Herts County Councillor Community budget (£1,000). In addition, over £350 was donated by residents of Sandridge Parish, for which we are very grateful. A local building company had been selected for the work on the brick and wooden structure. The honour boards have been sent to a specialist company who were involved in the restoration of the shrine of St. Amphibious in St. Albans Abbey. Hopefully, by now, they are back in place on the underside of the Lychgate roof.
