www.sandridge-pc.gov.uk 36 Summer 2024 Local church news O n Saturday 4 th May, a number of us from Ridgeway Church spent the day in the lovely setting of All Nations College in Ware, the venue for our Annual Away Day. A guest speaker opened up the Bible to us, and there was lots of time to chat and get to know each other. The weather was kind and many of us enjoyed a walk in the sunshine in the beautiful grounds. On the Sunday we had a church lunch together, and it was another opportunity to get to know people who had recently arrived in church. We continue to welcome newcomers, especially families from Hong Kong. We are now a very diverse group of people who have a common desire to learn more about Jesus and how he can help us navigate our way through what is often a troubling and perplexing world. www.ridgewaychurch.net 01582 833818 W e are delighted to report that the work on the Lychgate is at last completed and the honour boards back in place. The intention was always to repair and not restore, and so you may think it doesn’t look too different. However, it is hopefully now secure for another fifty years or so. More information can be found on pages 38-39. Do please pause to admire it when visiting the church (open daily 10am - 3pm) or walking through the churchyard. We have picnic benches for those who would like to use them and the churchyard is currently full of wildflowers. Our next big event is the Summer Fair on Saturday 8 th June 11am - 2pm. There will be the usual mix of stalls, games and refreshments. It’s always a lovely parish event, so do join us. The money raised will contribute towards the staggering amount it costs to maintain our beautiful building. Craft Church for families will take place on 15 th June and 20 th July . This free drop-in session offers families crafts, activities, refreshments , a short story and a chance to chat. Other special events to look forward to: Sunday 7 th July 3pm : Cream tea and songs of praise . Just come along and bring your family and friends. There is no cost, and if we are fortunate we will do this outside. Afternoon teas will take place on Sundays 4 th ,11 th ,18 th and 25 st August, 3-5pm and feature delicious homemade goodies. As with most of our events, there is no cost, although many people kindly give a donation. We hope to see you soon. www.sandridgechurch.org.uk Rev Wendy Sellers: revwendy55@gmail.com
