F ollowing the success of the Jigsaw Meadow in 2023, the Parish Council has added four more “pieces” to the meadow; a new bed in St Leonard’s Open Space, an extension to the one in William Bell Open Space, two new beds in Sherwood Park and a new bed in Harness Way Open Space. We very much look forward to seeing what grows in the existing beds created last year, the perennials have started to come through, so we are expecting a wider variety of species in those beds such as Ox-Eye Daisies, Wild Foxgloves and Musk Mallows. In the newly created beds, the annuals will bloom this summer giving a colourful display of Poppies, Cornflowers and Chamomile to name but a few. If you have time on a warm summer day, spend a few moments watching the bees and butterflies busying themselves in the flowers – it is a beautiful sight. We have more initiatives like the Jigsaw Meadow on the horizon, so watch this space!
