23 www.sandridge-pc.gov.uk Summer 2024 By participating in the challenge, young people will have the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests. Please visit in July and sign up for this fantastic, free activity with your library card. If not a library member, do not worry, we can sign you all up quickly so you can take part. Volunteers Our volunteers last year were amazing. As we are so busy at Marshalswick we rely on volunteers during the Summer Reading Challenge, so we are keen to recruit volunteers to work with our team. You would explain the challenge to children and their parents; listen as they describe the books they have read; give out stickers, medals / certificates, be enthusiastic in encouraging the children to continue reading and complete some basic administration to record how many participants have started / finished. No experience is required; just be keen to support the children with their reading, happy to ask questions (should they be shy) and able to give up a minimum of 12 hours over the holiday period. Full training will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering, please come into the library, and ask for Ian, our Summer Reading Challenge Volunteer Co- ordinator. Alternatively you can register your interest at http://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/ src-volunteers To see all the latest activities, dates and support available at Marshalswick Library please come in and say hello or follow us on Facebook (Marshalswick Library).
