The owner, Mr EJ Wright, qualified in 1952 as FBHI Fellow of the British Horological Institute and previously had a clock and watch repair business in Harrow. Family Mr Michael J Wright followed in the family business by qualifying as FGA & DGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association) in 1990 while working at Wrights, which was turning into more of the jewellery shop we know today. The shop underwent a major refurbishment and reopened in September 2014 with a grand reopening party. They have their own workshop on site, including a goldsmith, clockmaker and watch technician, and they offer repairs, alterations and bespoke handmade jewellery. Mr Wright senior continued to work in the shop until 2017 when he retired, leaving Michael to run the shop. He continued to enjoy popping in to the shop until sadly passing away in December 2023. The business continues to thrive in The Quadrant and will be bringing the exciting new venture of permanent jewellery to the shop in the coming weeks. In the realm of "forever" jewellery, these welded chains are the latest innovation. Typically done by jewellers who specialise in the craft, the process involves welding together a dainty chain on the wrist or around the neck so that they cannot be removed with a clasp. A trained welder links together a tiny "jump ring" that secures the chain.
