M eggie Nikolic is a St. Albans- based artist who has been creating artwork since childhood. She has a mixed background both culturally and professionally. Meggie has English, Serbian and Croatian heritage and has lived in Belgrade, Nottingham, Glasgow, Boston (USA) and London before moving to St Albans in 2011. Meggie is currently a part-time university lecturer in biosciences and previously had a research career in London. Meggie has gained her skills in art from a variety of experiences. The most memorable include Belgrade School of Art, Glasgow School of Art and the Slade. In 2013, Meggie got completely hooked on painting with traditional oils under the tutelage of Christiane Kubrick, whom she found super inspiring. Being a keen observer of nature and animals, it is not hard for Meggie to !nd inspiration the minute she goes outside or even from looking through the window. She is usually grappling with too many inspiring ideas and not enough time or space to start them all. She is intrigued by light, re"ections, moods, and the sheer power and beauty of life. Meggie is a genuine sky- gazer and feels super lucky to live in Hertfordshire where there is always something magical taking place in the atmosphere. She usually paints on box canvases with Windsor and Newton artist oils, Schminke Mussini oils, a selection of brushes from general supplies and her special favourites from Rosemary and Co. Meggie is currently a member of Herts Visual Arts, St. Albans Art Society, and the Harpenden Arts Club.
