Autumn 2023

www.sandridge-pc.gov.uk 20 AUTUMN 2023 I n our local parish we have recently lost 50 trees from our grass verges. These were removed by Hertfordshire County Council a!er their recent inspection having been found to be dead, dangerous or in decline. As a new Parish Councillor, I am keen that the Parish Council not only replace these trees, but also increase the number in our verges to improve our surroundings and in a small way help reduce climate change. They also provide welcome shade in hot weather and habitat for wildlife. New trees will obviously take time, and money, to purchase, install and maintain. However, if as a resident you would like to sponsor a tree in the Parish or in the grass verge outside your property (maybe to celebrate your 5 th wedding anniversary, which is wood), then please in the "rst instance could you email me at the address below. I will then pop along and do an initial check to see if the verge appears clear of services to allow a tree to be planted. You may even be encouraged to water the tree for the "rst two years to help it spread it roots, grow and thrive. Councillor Carol Chalkley carolchalkley@hotmail.com
