Bio
My primary role is as the Parish Clerk but this also incorporates being the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer for the Council.
These additional duties carry a legal significance in certain situations such as endorsing the accounting statements at year end. I have 30 years of experience in local government, mostly within Finance. I’m responsible for the internal management and organisation of the Council, advising Members on legal and financial matters, ensuring processes laid down in law are adhered to and that good practice is maintained. I’m very lucky to be one of a team of great people, all committed, really good at their job and fun to be with.
Outside of the office I love to write, keep fit and garden. I live in central St Albans and very much enjoy being close to the bustling centre of things.

As Deputy Clerk, I have a part time role primarily responsible for ensuring our monthly accounts are in order as well as providing support for the rest of the team as they manage the many varied activities in the daily life of the parish office. Our councillors and community volunteers are regular visitors, calling in to keep us up to date on their activities or seeking guidance on how best to progress new ideas or handle residents’ concerns. We also have regular contact with contractors, who undertake an array of services and works across the parish, from daily playground inspections to woodland management or one-off capital works such as installing new footpaths or equipment.
Additionally, I am responsible for administration of two of our parish committees: Jersey Farm Woodland Park Management Committee and the Parish Environmental Assets and Pathways Committee, between them providing oversight and essential maintenance of our precious woodland and green spaces. We are a busy team, happy to take on new challenges in response to the changing needs of our local community and collaborating with our colleagues at both the District and County Councils, ensuring we meet our statutory obligations as well as keeping pace with new initiatives. I live locally, with two sons still in education, and a dog who ensures I make good use of all our lovely outdoor spaces.

As the Community Centres Manager, my role is to maintain and ensure the smooth running of the two Community Centres within our parish; Marshalswick Community Centre and Jersey Farm Community Centre. I am responsible for all bookings made at each venue, which involves liaising with hirers and showing them around the buildings so they are familiar with the facilities, and for the management of the Community Centres’ accounts and utilities. A large part of my role is ensuring that the high standards of cleanliness and presentation are maintained, and this regularly requires me to meet with various tradespeople and contractors.
Outside of the Parish Council, I also run a print and publishing company, and I am the editor and publisher of the Sandridge Parish Council quarterly magazine, Neighbourhood News.
In my spare time I love to be outdoors and active, enjoying running and long walks with my dogs.

My name is Rebecca and I am the Project, Amenities and Community Engagement Officer. My role is incredibly variable, and no two days are ever the same. From managing the projects that the parish council undertake to organising the capital works in our playgrounds, my daily routine is ever changing. I am also responsible for the parish website and our social media accounts, as well as clerking both the Planning Committee and the Sports and Recreation Ground Committee.
Outside of the Parish Council I also work with horses as a riding coach and I feel very privileged to mentor people on their horsemanship journey . I love to ride, walk my dog and be in the outdoors. I dream of living a little closer to the snowy mountains but feel very lucky to have so much accessible countryside on my doorstep.
